ORION FOUNDATION

OVERVIEW

The O’Callaghan Resource Integrated Oncology Network (ORION) Cancer Foundation provides financial assistance to eligible individuals, living in Southern Nevada, unable to afford the basics of daily living while undergoing treatment for cancer.

In 2012, ORION was established in honor of former Nevada Governor Mike O’Callaghan and First Lady Carolyn O’Callaghan, both cancer survivors and well-known for their compassion and lifelong pursuit to help those in need. The acronym ORION is borrowed from the constellation of a hunter whose dedication is symbolic of the O’Callaghan’s lifelong pursuit to help the common man. Stars of ORION shine bright in the winter, helping us navigate through the cold and darkness. The constellation also warms the sky in spring, when new beginnings and hope emerge.

Patients undergoing cancer treatment may experience long hospital stays and missed work days which often result in financial distress. ORION Cancer Foundation was established to help lessen the financial burden resulting from medical crisis by offering grant funding for essential needs and services.

THE AMOUNT OF DONATIONS ORION RECEIVES EACH YEAR DETERMINES THE NUMBER OF PATIENTS RECEIVING SUPPORT IN OUR COMMUNITY.  100% OF THE FUNDS DONATED TO ORION SUPPORT ADULT CANCER PATIENTS IN TREATMENT & IN FINANCIAL NEED.

The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation is a local non-profit organization which, in addition to ORION, offers programs and services to adults touched by cancer at The Caring Place.
